Methodology

This experimental field was located in Hand county, South Dakota. Soybeans were planted in 30-inch rows in strips on April 20, 2021. The purpose of this experiment is to compare the effects of Vitazyme biostimulant applied July 16 at R1 followed by molasses on July 24 at the R2 growth stage. This experiment had only one replication.  Any possible yield reduction was likely due to the molasses, as molasses had a tendency to reduce yields in a nearby trial, but Vitazyme did not.  For analysis purposes, the field was classified into low yield zones (less than 35 bu/ac), mid yield zones (35-55 bu/ac), and high yield zones (more than 55 bu/ac).

Results

On average, Vitazyme application did not increase yield. Due to lack of multiple replications, statistical analysis was not performed (Table 1). More research at multiple sites with more replications are required to better explain the contrast between two different treatments.
