Four strips of 6-22-6-0.02-0.05-0.06-0.46 (N-P-K-B-Cu-Mn-Zn) were applied in-furrow at 2.5 gal ac-1. The starter also contained the following microbial strains: R. palustris, B. brevis, B. licheniformis, S. griseus, B. megaterium, R. rhodochrous, L. plantarum.
Agronomic Information and Weather
Soybeans with a 2.0 maturity rating were no-tilled in 30” rows on May 17. Seed was treated with insecticide, fungicide, and a B.japonicum inoculant. The previous crop was corn. The field received approx. 10.52 in. of rain and accumulated 1802 GDDs from June 1 through August 31. This was warmer and somewhat wetter than the average of 1697 GDDs and 9.94 in.
Results
Results
On average, the soybeans receiving starter fertilizer yielded 0.7 bu ac-1 higher than those without the starter, which was significant at the 95% confidence interval. This same product was also tested in a nearby field. However, there was no significant yield difference in the nearby field.
