Methodology

MATERIALS AND METHODS

S14-J7, an SCN susceptible cultivar, and S17-B3, a resistant cultivar to SCN, were used in a split-plot arrangement in RCBD at both Hurley and Southeast Farm. Early and late stand counts were carried out at V5 and R8, respectively. Yield, test weight, protein and oil contents data sets were also collected. Multiple comparison of treatment means (LS-means) were reported using the least significant difference (LSD).

Results

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

SCN Study Hurley:

No significant differences for initial stand count. Although there were some differences in stand counts at R8, none of the differences were due treatment effect. Yield and quality differences were not due to treatment effect either (Table 1 and Table 2 ). However, a significant negative correlation between yield and Fall SCN count was observed, r = – 0.28, p = 0.1.
