Three strips of potash were applied at 100 lbs K20 ac-1 on April 22. The fertilizer was shallowly incorporated with vertical tillage just prior to planting. AG2835 (Strip 1) and AG2933 (Strips 2 and 3) were planted in 15” rows on May 19. The seed was treated with IntegoTM (insecticide + fungicide) and Optimize® (rhizobia inoculant + LCO molecule). ESN® controlled-release polymer coated urea was applied to the same strips as a surface broadcast at 75 lbs N ac-1 on June 24 at V3. The field received approx. 16.1 in. of rain from June 1 through August 31. Yield differences within each treatment strip (Figure 1) were calculated by subtracting untreated yield from treated yield, where untreated yield was estimated from data surrounding both sides of the treatment strip.
Results
Results
Overall, there was no significant yield response to ESN® (Table 2). In fact, there appeared to be several areas of yield loss, mostly in depression areas. These results were similar to a trial in the same field in 2015 where only the K2O was applied.
