Methodology

DKC48-68RIB, a 98-day hybrid, was planted in 30-inch rows at 33,000 seeds/ac in Kingsbury Co. on May 4, 2023.  During planting, Nutriquire was applied in-furrow at 32 oz/ac.  The active ingredients were Bacillus subtilis and Pseudomonas putida, both at 1,000,000 cfu/mL.  It also contained humic acids (derived from Leonardite) at 0.03%.  The product is marketed to improve P and K uptake.  Treatments were applied to 5 different strips that were each 40 ft. wide.  Corn was harvested on October 8 & 9, 2023.

Results

Corn treated with Nutriquire in-furrow yielded 0.2 bu/ac higher than corn not treated with the product.  This difference was less than 2.2 bu/ac, and therefore, not considered different at a 90% confidence level (Figure 1 & Table 1).  Further testing of this product would be of interest, especially on soils with lower P and K levels.
