Methodology

This research took place on the footslope landscape of a field in Kingsbury County. Soybeans were planted in 30-inch rows at 160,000 seeds per acre on May 4, 2021. The soybean variety was AG12XF1. Urea and No Urea application were the two treatments used in this experiment having three replications for each. Nitrogen fertilizer rate was 70 lb/ac. Drone imagery was taken after two week of fertilizer application.

Results

Overall, at footslope of the field, nitrogen fertilizer application increased yield by 0.36 bu/ac (Table 1), however statistically it was not significant. Rep, 1 had a decrease in yield by -1.43 bu/ac , whereas Rep 2 and 3 had increased yield. Additional trials with more replications should be completed to identify efficacy of treatment over multiple years.
