Methods and Agronomic Information

The varieties, Channel 1700R2, Pioneer P22T69R, and Stine 20RD20 were planted into a ridge-till field on April 27.  The seed was not treated with a Bradyrhizobium inoculant.  On June 5, each of the three treatment strips (Figure 1), which were also a different variety, received 75 lbs N ac-1 as NH3.  The field received approx. 14.6 in. of rain from June 1 through August 31.

Results

Results

On average, the treated strips yielded no differently than the estimated yield of those same strips without NH3 (Table 2). This estimate was calculated from data surrounding both sides of each strip.  However, it appears that the best potential for NH3 would have been on the DpC and EnA soils, which were some of the lowest yielding areas in the field.
