Methodology
This experiment was conducted at Kingsbury county. Soybeans were planted on May 15, 2020 at a population of 160,000 Seeds/acre in 30-inch rows. Miravis Neo® fungicide was applied at R3 growth stage of soybean with the rate of 13.7 oz/ac in 90-foot-wide strips, which had four replications. Drone Imagery was collected using a fixed-wing AgEagle drone on August 3 and September 2 of 2020.
Results
Fungicide application boosted yield by 0.49 bu/ac on average, but the difference was statistically negligible (Table 1). GNDVI is a scale that ranges from -1 to 1 and was computed using drone imagery. GNDVI values closer to 1 indicate improved plant health and yield, while lower values indicate the opposite. The average GNDVI in fungicide-treated strips was higher in both flights, but not statistically significant (Table 2 & 3). To better understand the efficacy of fungicides, more study at various locations and replication is needed.
