Methodology

Pioneer 25A70R maturity group 2.5 soybeans were planted on June 6, 2018 at 140,000 seeds/acre in 30 inch rows.  Factor® (urease inhibitor) coated Urea (46-0-0) was applied at 20 lbs-N/ac by a hand spreader on August 24th, 2018.  The small plots were harvested and weighed in a weigh wagon.

Results

The nitrogen fertilizer increased yield by 2.72 bu/ac.  This yield increase was not significantly different than the unfertilized controls (p=0.167).  More research is required to determine if late season nitrogen application can increase yields.
