Methodology

Methodology:

Four strips were planted at 170,000 seeds/acre, which were compared to the farmer’s normal rate of 140,000 seeds/acre.

Results

Results:

Increasing the seeding rate from 140,000 to 1700,000 seeds/acre in high yielding soybeans ( >55 bu) did not significantly affect yields when average across the four strips. In order for the yield change to be significant at 95% there needed to be a yield loss or gain of at least 2.05 bushels, this was not achieved with withe the average change of 1.10 bushel increase.
