Methodology
This experimental field was located in Brown County, South Dakota. Soybeans were planted in 30-inch rows in strips on April 24, 2021. The purpose of this experiment is to compare the effects of Fungicide treatment against no Fungicide treatment on at R3 growth stage of soybean. This experiment had two replications. For analysis purposes, the field was classified into low yield zones (less than 35 bu/ac), mid yield zones (35-55 bu/ac), and high yield zones (more than 55 bu/ac). UAV image was collected on August 13, 2021 and analysis was performed to create GNDVI map. Higher the GNDVI value mean better the plant growth.
Results
Over all fungicide application did not increase yield. It resulted in an average yield reduction by 1.91 bu/ac. However, this reduction was not statistically significant (Table 1). Out of two, one of the replication had increase in yield by 0.82 bu/ac. Thus More research at multiple sites with more replications are required to better explain the contrast between two different treatments.
