Methodology
ESN was broadcast onto soybeans planted in 30 inch rows at 75 lbs. N/acre on Jul. 24 at R2/R3. The site received approx. 20.7 in. of rain and accumulated 1677 GDD’s from June 1 through August 31. This was approximately 11.1 in. more precip. and 205 less GDD’s than the 30 yr. avg.
Results
Overall, ESN appeared to increase yields (Table 1). Soybeans growing on the backslope and hill shoulders appeared responsive to the product. ESN costs approximately $525 per ton. Applying this rate could cost close to $45/acre in product alone.
