Methodology
ESN (44-0-0) was applied at 20 lbs-N/ac by a hand spreader. The ESN was applied at R1 in late July.
Results
The ESN fertilizer increased average yield by 5.27 bu/ac. However, this increase was not significant. An increase in yield of 7.20 bu/ac would be required to be significant at a 90% confidence level. Future research is needed to confirm this concept of applying slow release nitrogen fertilizer to soybeans.
