Methodology

Methods and Agronomic Information ( ESN June V3)

Pioneer 90Y01 was planted in 15 in. rows on May 13. Seed was treated with a fungicide, insecticide, and inoculant. ESN® controlled-release polymer coated urea was applied to the three treatment strips (Figure 1) at 75 lbs N ac-1 on June 5, 2015 at V3. The field received approx. 9.0 in. of rain from June 1 through August 31.

Methods and Agronomic Information (ESN July R2)

Pioneer 90Y01 was no-tilled in 15 in. rows on May 13. Seed was treated with a fungicide, insecticide, and inoculant. ESN® controlled-release polymer coated urea was applied to the three treatment strips (Figure 1) at 75 lbs N ac-1 on July 17 at R2. The field received approx. 9.0 in. of rain from June 1 through August 31, with 3.24 in. recorded after the application.

Results

Results 

Yield differences within each treatment strip (Figure 1) were calculated by subtracting ESN-July applied yield from ESN-June applied yield.  Result showed 2.1 bu ac-1 positive yield response in overall.

Segments of these strips appeared to have yield responses much greater than the average, showing potential for precision application, provided that responsive areas can be identified. An application on July 17, 2015 at R2 in the same field showed less potential than this V1 application.
