Methodology

Methods and Agronomic Information

The variety, Asgrow 1733 was planted into a ridge-till field on April 27.  The seed was not treated with a Bradyrhizobium inoculant.  On June 23, each of the three treatment strips (Figure 1) received 75 lbs N ac-1 as ESN® controlled-release polymer coated urea.  The field received approx. 14.6 in. of rain from June 1 through August 31.

Results

Results

On average, the treated strips yielded no differently than the estimated yield of those same strips without ESN® (Table 2). This estimate was calculated from data surrounding both sides of each strip.  Even though ESN® appeared ineffective at increasing yields in this field, NH3 applied on June 5 showed more potential, especially in the lowest-yielding areas of the field.
