Methodology

Methods and Agronomic Information

Peterson L17-16n was planted in 15” rows on May 10. The seed was treated with a Bradyrhizobium inoculant. ESN® controlled-release polymer coated urea was applied to the treatment strips (Figure 1) with an airplane at 75 lbs N ac-1 on July 15 at R1. The field received approx. 18.2 in. of rain from June 1 through August 31.

Results

Results

On average, the treated strips yielded 2.3 bu ac-1 higher than the estimated yield of those same strips if ESN® hadn’t been applied (Table 2). This estimate was calculated from data surrounding both sides of each strip. A 3.9 bu ac-1 increase was observed in strip 2, which was mostly on Poinsett-Waubay silty clay loam with 1-6% slope. These results shows the potential for a precision application, provided that responsive areas can be identified.
