Methodology

This experimental field was in Buffalo County, South Dakota. Soybeans 24×728 variety was planted in 30-inch rows in strips on April 27, 2021.  EnvitaTM was applied to the treated strips at 3.2 fl oz/acre on 6/18/2021.  This was a microbial product that contained Gluconacetobacter diazotrophicus at 1.0 x 107 CFU/mL.  The treatment effect was analyzed separately by yield zone, which was either low (<35 bu/ac), medium (35 to 55 bu/ac) or high (>55 bu/ac).

Results

Overall, Vitazyme application at low yield zone reduced yield. Yield was increased by 6.69 bu/ac however was not statistically significant (Figure 1 & Table 1). Replication 1 had increase in yield by 4.77 and replication 2 had increase in yield by 8.61 bu/ac. Similar results have been found in other locations. However still more research at multiple sites with more replications are required to better explain the contrast between two different treatments in different environmental condition.
