Methodology

Nine different varieties of Latham brand soybean seeds were planted on May 30, 2018.  Maturity groups ranged from 0.6 to 1.5.  The varieties tested are listed on the graph.  The objective of this study was to determine the effect of maturity group on soybean yield.

Results

In this trial, an increase in a whole maturity group resulted in an increase in yield of 5.94 bu/ac.  This increase fit very well (R2 = 0.72).  It’s important to keep in mind that this trend can vary by year or even by location.
