Methodology

The Wensman variety W 3230R2, with a 2.3 maturity rating, was planted in 22” rows at approx. 140,000 seeds ac-1 on May 4. Ascend® plant growth regulator, which contains kinetin, gibberellic acid, indole butyric acid, copper, manganese, and zinc was applied at 6.4 oz ac-1 on 8/15 at R4. This field received approx. 17.5” of rain from June 1 through August 31, with approx. 2.8” following the application.

Results

Yield differences within each treatment strip (Figure 1) were calculated by subtracting untreated yield from treated yield, where untreated yield was estimated from data surrounding both sides of the treatment strip. The yield response to Ascend treatment was not statistically significant as a whole. However, positive yield response was observed on some part in the field.
