Treatment Information
Ascend® which contains which contains kinetin, gibberellic acid,
indole butyric acid, copper, manganese, and zinc was applied
at R3 on August 1 at 6.4 oz ac-1 to the two treatment strips (Figure 1).
Max-In® Boron (8% B) was also included in this tank mix and applied
at 1 pt. ac-1 to deliver an additional 0.11 lbs. of B ac-1.
Agronomic and Weather Information
Soybeans with a 1.4 maturity rating were no-tilled into corn residue in 15”
rows on May 10 at 162,000 seeds ac-1. Seed was treated with insecticide,
fungicide, and a B. japonicum inoculant. The field received approx. 8.95 in.
of rain and accumulated 2595 GDDs from June 1 through August 31. This
was similar precipitation, but warmer than the average of 9.15 in. and 1715
GDDs.
Results
Results
On average, this mix did not appear to increase yields at the 95% CI (Table
2). However, with only two reps, statistical significance is very difficult to
achieve. This mix did appear effective through the lowland area of the
Towner-Hecla soils. Since the soil B levels tested high in this zone, it’s likely
that Ascend® may have driven any potential yield response. Therefore,
additional trials are needed to help us better-understand when and where
these types of responses can be expected.
