Ascend® plant growth regulator, which contains which contains kinetin, gibberellic acid, indole butyric acid, copper, manganese, and zinc was applied at R3 on August 3 at 6.4 oz ac-1 to the three treatment strips (Figure 1).
Agronomic and Weather Information
Soybeans with a 1.4 maturity rating were planted into 30” rows on May 21 at 160,000 seeds ac-1. The previous crop was corn, which was ripped in fall of 2015, then field cultivated in the spring. No seed treatments or inoculants were used. The field received approx. 7.62 in. of rain and accumulated 1847 GDDs from June 1 through August 31. This was dryer and warmer than the average of 11.35 in. and 1691 GDDs.
Results
Results
On average, this product had no significant effect on yields (Table 2). These results were in agreement with similar 2016 trial performed in Brown Co. Ascend has shown favorable results in previous trials conducted at SDSU. Therefore, additional trials are needed to help us better-understand when and where these types of responses can be expected.
