Methodology
The variety, Mustang 23530 was no-tilled into 15 in. rows on 5/13/15. All seed in the field was treated with Right OnTM, an extract of Chenopodium quinoa saponins, to help prevent fungal and bacterial diseases, and PRIMOCL, a Bradyrhizobium japonicum inoculant. Seed in the three treatment strips (Figure 1) was treated with Acceleron®, which contained three fungicides (metalaxyl, pyraclostrobin, and fluxapryoxad) and an insecticide (imidacloprid).
Results
The field received approx. 15.1 in. of rain from June 1 through August 31. Yield differences within each treatment strip (Figure 1) were calculated by subtracting untreated yield from treated yield, where untreated yield was estimated from data surrounding both sides of the treatment strip. Overall, there was no significant yield response to the Acceleron® seed treatment. However, if disease conditions were present, the lack of yield response by Acceleron® may have been confounded by the potential disease-fighting benefits of Right OnTM.
