Methodology
This experiment was conducted at Lake county. Soybean variety 19GA03 was planted in 30 in. rows in strips on April 23, 2020. This experiment consists of two different seeding rates- lower (90K) and higher (165K) comparison and both seeding rate had two replications. Drone Imagery was collected using a fixed-wing AgEagle drone on July 28 and August 25 of 2020.
Results
On average, a lower seeding rate resulted in a yield reduction of -3.07 bu/ac which was statistically significant (Table 1). The GNDVI scale, which ranges from -1 to 1, was calculated using drone imagery. GNDVI values closer to 1 indicate improved plant health and yield, while lower values indicate the opposite. In mid and late season drone imagery, the average GNDVI in the lower seeding rate strip was highest than higher seeding rate strips (Table 2) . More research at multiple sites and replication are required to better explain the contrast between two different seeding rates.
