Three strips of Bio-Forge® antioxidant were applied at 12 oz/acre on Aug. 8, 2014 to soybeans planted in 15 in. wide rows when the crop was at the R4 growth stage. The site received approx. 10.8 in. of rain and accumulated 1563 GDD’s from June 1 through August 31. This was approximately 3.1 in. more precip. and 96 less GDD’s than the 30 yr. avg. Bio-Forge costs around $10 per acre in product. With $9.00 soybeans, a 2 bu/ac yield response may be enough to consider an application.
Results
There were long stretches in this field where consistent yield responses over 2 bu/ac were measured, especially in reps 2 and 3. Based on this yield map, it appears that the responsive areas are largely random and difficult to relate to any particular landscape position or soil type.
